How are you feeling? Surviving the craziness of this week? Today I am talking about something bland and easy to digest, content calendars! It’s the lactaid ice cream of communication strategy.
But first…NEWS AND UPDATES
I have three new consulting packages on my website! The Pick My Brain Session is an hour session that’s perfect if you need some questions answered, or extra branding and communication strategy help.
THINGS I’M LOVING
I’m all about sharing resources to make your life more magical. This week, I’m loving:
Rosemary! I can’t get enough of it. I bought a big planter from Costco and I need to go back for more. It thrives in the sun. I am imaging a whole Mediterranean vibe in my backyard.
The Con: Kaitlyn’s Baby If you like true crime, this disturbing podcast is worth a listen.
Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney. I love a British page-turner. This one is hard to out down.
Qwoted Have you used this site? It’s a way for small businesses to gain media exposure. Check it out.
How a Weekly Content Calendar Increased My Productivity & Saved my Sanity
Let’s get real about content creation, it’s not for the faint of heart. For far too long, my strategy was: "idea pops into head, scramble to create something, hope it sticks."
Does this sound familiar? As a self-proclaimed "wing it" girl, I have resisted the idea of a content calendar for years. But once I started planning my podcast, I finally caved, and the results have been... well, in a word, refreshing.
Why Winging it Doesn’t Always Work:
BC, or before calendar, my content creation was pure chaos:
Idea Overload with Zero Action: Brilliant ideas would strike at 3 AM, only to be forgotten.
Creative Block on Demand: Sitting down to create felt like staring into a dark void.
Platform Confusion: Which platform needs what, and when? It was a mess.
This approach wasn't just stressful; it was a productivity killer. I was wasting ample time and brainpower.
The Calendar Cure
Then I sat down and created a simple weekly calendar in Google Docs and everything changed. I shifted into AC, or after calendar mode. Here's how it increased my productivity:
Strategic Planning:
Instead of chasing every shiny object, I now plot out my topics for the entire week and even the month.
I am able to batch create content, saving time and following a more cohesive strategy.
Result: I'm more focused, efficient, and my content feels more purposeful.
Visual Workflow:
As a visual person, seeing my content laid out in a calendar format is pure magic.
I can instantly see what needs to be done and where it needs to be posted.
Result: less last-minute panics, not that I ever panic ; )
Calendar Power:
My calendar is now my central hub, tracking where and when content has been posted. I always have my calendar open on my laptop.
This prevents repetition and helps with content repurposing.
Result: I'm working smarter and maximizing the impact of my content.
Productivity Gains:
Since implementing a weekly content calendar, my productivity has definitely increased. There is something oddly satisfying about seeing all your deadlines in one place. I'm:
Creating more content in less time.
Feeling more in control.
Publishing consistently across platforms.
Seeing better engagement and results.
